Kristen Serio

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Kristen Serio has always shown an interest in drawing and painting. Engaged in private art lessons since nine years old, Kristen received a solid background in realistic art using charcoal, pastel, and oil. As part of a family passionate about the outdoors, many vacations taken as a young girl and teenager provided a profound influence on Kristen’s work. Kristen captured and transferred her experiences into her artwork. Hiking with a flower press made by her father, she collected flora for years on their annual trips.

In 2012, Kristen enrolled at University of Louisiana at Lafayette to expand her knowledge and skills of the visual arts. She graduated in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Immediately following graduation, Acadiana Center for the Arts in Lafayette accepted two of Kristen’s collegiate paintings for their Student Arts Expo to be displayed through March 2017.

Kristen has displayed her artwork in several local markets since 2018. She continues to paint, but her artwork has expanded into using pressed flowers and greenery from weddings, special events, or even from the LSU lakes. Exploring with wood and resin, she creates unique gifts such as trays, wallhangings, and tables. Branching out even further, she now makes jewelry, incorporating pressed flowers, wood, and authentic butterflies from around the globe. Kristen was featured in the April 2020 edition of “inRegister” magazine and then again in the “inRegister@HOME” article of June 11, 2020.

Currently Kristen resides in Baton Rouge working as an artist and a personal trainer. The artist is a member of Midcity Makers Market and Southeast Farmers and Arts Market where she displays her creations throughout the year.
